Admission for Qualifications Completed Outside South Africa

• Conditional exemption certificates are facilitated by Unisa for undergraduate qualifications. A separate fee is applicable for the Matriculation Board to issue the conditional exemption certificate.
• Exemption certificates are not required for master’s or doctoral qualifications.

Application Fee Payment

• The non-refundable online application fee is R135.00.
• Students with an existing Unisa student number for a formal qualification are exempt from paying the application fee.

• M30 form for conditional exemption (if applying for a bachelor degree)

Honours and Postgraduate Diplomas:

Master’s and Doctoral Qualifications:

SAQA Evaluation

• SAQA evaluates foreign qualifications for recognition within the South African National Qualifications Framework (NQF).
• Unisa only accepts SAQA certificates of evaluation.

NQF Levels and Qualifications

• Different qualifications have different NQF levels.
• NQF levels are used to determine minimum admission requirements.

Funding for Foreign Students

• The government is assessing foreign student subsidies, which might lead to increased fees.
• Unisa reserves the right to charge fees in foreign countries’ currencies.
